How I’m finding life with 2 under 2

How I’m finding life with 2 under 2

Today I’m going to share with you my experiences of having 2 children under the age of 2. Sullivan is now 3 weeks old, which I still cannot believe. It has been a complete whirlwind of emotions, stress, overwhelm and happiness, and not to mention the added lack of sleep from having a newborn and a teething, clingy toddler!

I wrote a post last year, explaining my fears for having 2 under 2 and I am happy to report that the fears I had are gone and to be honest I have found that going from 1 child to 2 has been a lot easier of a transition than going from no children to 1 child.

I remember feeling a kind of dread for coming home after having Sullivan because I really didn’t want Logan to feel left out or be jealous of the baby, but honestly Logan adapted so well, on the day we came home he came straight to me, and if I am honest he didn’t even notice the baby until I was feeding him but even then he was just curious. Another fear I had was Logan’s sleep being messed up, well it has kind of messed up but that’s due to his teething and other personal issues which I cannot discuss on social media at this time.

3 weeks on and everything seems so natural and little Sullivan fits in like a glove and I genuinely feel like my family is complete, a lot of people usually wish for a girl after having boys but not me, I’m happy with my 2 boys!

Logan has been really helpful with the baby and wanting to get involved with Sully, whenever I have to change sully’s nappy Logan’s right there waiting, I ask him to put nappy in the bin for mummy and he smiles and runs straight to the bin, he runs back and feels so proud of himself for helping mummy. He also “tries” to put Sully’s dummy back in his mouth when he starts crying, but it usually ends up in Logan’s mouth which results in a lot more sterilising! (That’s one thing that is different, there is a lot more laundry, and sterilising of dummies hehe)

Getting out and about with my two boys hasn’t been that difficult really, yeah it takes 10x longer to get ready and its usually dinner time before we eventually leave the house but the tandem pram we have has been quite pleasant to push, sometimes it can get stuck in shops especially in small shops as its hard to even turn it around.

So far I’m not finding it difficult financially, as a lot of the clothes Sullivan is wearing have been hand me downs from friends and family or mostly Logan’s clothes, so I’ve saved a lot of money in clothes, I’m only really paying for nappies and formula which is about £15 a fortnight ish. And the age gap between my 2 can have its challenging times especially when Logan is having one of his epic tantrums or wants to nap and I’m feeding the baby but we find ways to work around it and there’s always a solution (most of the time). And I’m happy to announce that Logan still loves me and he loves having a little brother (I hope) so if you’re an expectant mummy of 2 under 2 then be positive, and know that if I can do it then you can do it too.

  1. Glad it is working out well for you Maria. Logan sounds like he’s being an absolute little champ, which is down to him having a wonderful mum who puts the needs of her boys first!

  2. Congratulations! My little girl just turned one and my husband and I keep discussing when she’ll be ready to be a big sister and when we’ll be ready to take on two. You are a warrior and a super mom! Hope their sweet bond stays strong! #TriumphantTales

  3. Oh gosh I really needed to read this today! The closer my due date gets, the more worried I am about three under two!!! We had planned on using most of Ben’s old clothes for the baby but when we discovered they were twins, of course twinning outfits were a must and the buggy situation was a nightmare to find at a reasonable price!!!!!
It is so nice to see everything is working out well for you all!
Thank you for sharing this with us at #TriumphantTales. I hope to see you back next week!
